Syracuse men’s rowing's varsity 8 has been ranked at No. 7 in the latest IRCA/IRA Men’s Varsity 8+ poll released Wednesday.

Syracuse men’s rowing’s varsity 8 remains at No. 7 in the latest IRCA/IRA Men’s Varsity 8+ poll released Wednesday.

The Orange won the 67th annual Goes Trophy with a time of 5:40.6 against No. 14 Cornell and No. 11 Navy, 0.9 seconds better than the varsity 8 that lost in the Pac-12 Invitational on April 7. Both the second varsity 8 and third varsity 8 placed in the top 10, with the second varsity 8 ranked No. 9 and the third varsity 8 ranked No. 8.

The second varsity 8 had an 8.2-second improvement (5:45.4) from the opening races in California. The third varsity 8 raced for the first time this season and came in with a time of 5:49.4 on Lake Onondaga.

Both crews won their races against Cornell and Navy, securing the Stagg Points Trophy for SU. Syracuse was also ranked No. 8 in the IRA Ten Eyck Team Points.



The Orange next race April 27 in the Lake Morey Invitational against No. 19 Georgetown, No. 10 Dartmouth, and No. 13 Boston University.
